About

Northnet Incorporated has been actively working for the community of Cessnock for over 30 years. The concept of a not for profit community based organisation helping the unemployed members of our community was enacted in 1983, when some far-sight people came together to form Cessnock Youth Support Scheme. Some of those people are still actively involved with Northnet today. CYSS received government funding to enable it to conduct training programs relevant to the needs and interests of the Cessnock community. Over the years the business has grown and seen many changes. As it evolved, the name was changed to Cessnock Community Training Centre and then later to Northumberland Network when it’s business was housed in the original Northumberland Hotel in Vincent Street Cessnock.

Growth and training demands saw a change of location in 1997 to the School Of Arts building on the corner of Vincent Street and Maitland Road.

In the past 13 years Northnet has been involved in many projects across the Hunter area. Renovations and restorations have occurred in many parks, community halls and playing fields in the Greater Cessnock LGA. Up skilling and training has seen many residents of the LGA gaining employment within the retail, tourism, business and community services sectors both locally and over the entire Hunter Valley.

Northnet has a wonderful community history and continues to assist people as far away as Muswellbrook and the Central coast in industry based programs, Environmental Initiatives and on the job traineeships.

Now situated in new modern, premises in Hall Street Cessnock, Northnet is looking to the future. Northnet’s pledge “To deliver a premium service which will enhance the lifestyles of the community by offering quality affordable training to facilitate further employment opportunities for all.”

Northnet is growing it’s business and can be seen as the premium provider of training in the Hunter. Training is taking place as far away as Muswellbrook and all across Newcastle.

Over 2500 people trained with us in 2009.
