How we work
Building the capacity of local organisations
We believe that the best way to supply quality employment and related services to job seekers and their communities is to have strong not-for-profit organisations in local communities to provide these services.
- The Job Futures network gets people into meaningful work through community-based, not for profit member organisations
- Job Futures sub-contracts delivery of services to locally based member organisations, backed up by centralised contract management support.
- Strategic alliances among not-for-profit organisations and with the private sector are important in building stronger communities.
How members and national office work together
Job Futures is a network of organisations that work together to deliver services, generally under contract to an external head contractor/purchaser (eg. Commonwealth Government). The funding body contracts Job Futures Ltd, which in turn sub-contracts its members. The Board of Job Futures Ltd comprises 6 directors elected by and from the members and two independent members.
Job Futures members also have a say in the priorities and policies of the organisation through regular regional meetings, the Annual General Meeting and ad hoc consultation processes around key issues. As well as the opportunities that flow directly through Job Futures Limited, organisations benefit from being part of a collaborative network of community based organisations facing similar challenges.
Governance – Giving members a real voice
Job Futures is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board includes six representatives elected annually by the members, with up to two additional non-member Directors appointed by the Board.
Members directly participate in the company’s operation through regular Regional Meetings, an annual National Conference, an annual Chairs’ and CEOs’ Forum, and through the various working groups and Board Committees that contribute to the company’s operations and development.
